About Me

Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a mechanical engineer and technical manager. I understand the impact that work and career can have on relationships, personal fulfillment, and overall happiness. I am the author of โ€œBuilding Better Relationshipsโ€”A Guidebook for Menโ€ and several published articles. I am a native of Connecticut, a U.S. Army Veteran and have been in private clinical practice in Orange County, CA, since 2000.

About the Author

James Swaniger is a licensed marriage and family therapist with thirteen years’ experience. He is the sole proprietor of Better Relationships, a private psychotherapy practice in Irvine, California. Prior to changing careers to psychotherapy, he worked as a mechanical design engineer for twenty years. He has an undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut, and a Master of Arts degree in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.
